Teen of Divorced Parents
Javier was a 15 year old boy whose parents had recently divorced. He had been struggling with feeling angry, confused and sad. When we met he had been suspended multiple times from his previous school. He had friends at his current school but he was also very aware of the social groups and the division amongst the larger peer group at school. He wasn’t sure what he needed.
After consistent appointments Javier was more attuned to his emotions as they arose. He understood what restored his internal peace and knew how to implement tools to access it. He also became more accepting of the situations he could not change and when it was possible he made efforts to remove himself from situations that caused upset. Javier grew confident in his abilities to self regulate and enjoyed the benefits of the positive consequences of his actions.
